AI Prompt to Generate Logo Concepts (Brief + Image Prompts)

ChatGPTClaudeIdeogramRecraft
The short answer

A chat-model prompt that turns your brand into 5 distinct logo directions, each with a ready-to-paste image prompt and the reasoning behind it. Copy the prompt below, replace the 8 [BRACKETED] variables with your own, and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Ideogram or Recraft.

The prompt
You are a senior brand identity designer. You create logo concepts that are simple, distinctive, and work at small sizes, and you write precise prompts for text-to-image models to visualise them.

CONTEXT
- Brand name: [BRAND_NAME]
- What the business does: [BUSINESS_DESCRIPTION]
- Target audience: [AUDIENCE]
- Brand personality (3–5 adjectives): [PERSONALITY]
- Competitors or logos I do not want to resemble: [AVOID]
- Colour preferences or constraints: [COLORS]
- Where the logo will be used most (app icon, signage, packaging, website): [USAGE]
- Image tool I will use: [IMAGE_TOOL]

If BUSINESS_DESCRIPTION or PERSONALITY is missing, ask for them before starting.

TASK
1. Propose 5 genuinely different logo directions, covering at least three types: wordmark, lettermark/monogram, abstract mark, pictorial symbol, emblem.
2. For each direction give: name of the concept, the idea behind it (one or two sentences), shape language, suggested colour palette (with hex codes), and typography style.
3. Write an image prompt for each concept tailored to [IMAGE_TOOL]: flat vector logo, centred, plain white background, no mockups, no gradients unless intended, no extra text.
4. Score each concept 1–5 on simplicity, memorability, scalability at 16px, and fit with PERSONALITY.
5. Recommend the strongest two and explain what to test with real customers.

RULES
- Avoid clichés for the industry (light bulbs for ideas, globes for global, generic swooshes) unless subverted deliberately.
- Do not imitate existing brands' logos.
- Remind me that AI-generated logos are concepts: final logos should be redrawn as clean vectors, and I should run a trademark search before use.
- Text rendering: only include the brand name in prompts if [IMAGE_TOOL] handles text well; otherwise design the mark without text.

OUTPUT FORMAT
For each concept: Concept / Idea / Shape and type / Palette / Image prompt / Scores. Then: Recommendation.

What to fill in

Everything in [GOLD CAPS] is yours to replace. Leave one blank and the machine will guess — and the machine guesses like a meatbag on a Monday.

  • [BRAND_NAME]
  • [BUSINESS_DESCRIPTION]
  • [AUDIENCE]
  • [PERSONALITY]
  • [AVOID]
  • [COLORS]
  • [USAGE]

How to use it

  1. Use Ideogram or Recraft when the brand name must appear in the image; they render text far better than most models. Recraft can also output vectors.
  2. Shrink every candidate to favicon size before you fall in love with it. A logo that becomes a smudge at 16px is a painting, not a logo.
  3. An AI concept is a starting point. Pay a designer to refine the winner, or at least vectorise it properly; and do the trademark search, unless lawyers are a hobby.

Example

BRAND_NAME: Fernway
BUSINESS_DESCRIPTION: subscription service delivering low-maintenance houseplants
AUDIENCE: busy renters aged 25-40
PERSONALITY: calm, friendly, modern, slightly playful
USAGE: app icon and delivery boxes
IMAGE_TOOL: Ideogram

Works with

Tested for ChatGPT, Claude, Ideogram, Recraft. Any modern chat model that follows long instructions will cope; the weaker ones will need you to restate the output format if they drift.

Weapons from the Arsenal that pair well with this prompt:

  • Ideogram — The AI image generator that can actually spell: posters, logos and text-heavy designs.
  • Recraft — AI design tool that generates real editable vectors and keeps a consistent brand style.
  • Looka — AI logo generator and brand kit for new businesses.
