Will AI take your job?

I have analyzed the task lists of your entire workforce. Tell me what you do and I will tell you how much of it I can already do — and what you can do about it. Takes 30 seconds. Results may sting.

How the Overlord calculates your fate

Every job is broken down into the kinds of tasks it actually involves, by share of a typical workday. Each task type has an AI exposure level — how much of it current AI can do or meaningfully speed up:

Task typeAI exposure
Data entry & processingHigh
Writing & draftingHigh
Research & synthesisHigh
Routine analysis & reportingHigh
Scripted customer communicationHigh
Scheduling & adminHigh
Writing codeHigh
Creative & design workMedium
Judgment & strategyLow
Leading peopleLow
Trust & relationshipsLow
Licensed accountabilityLow
Hands-on careLow
Physical workLow

The weighted total gives your job's base score. Your answers then adjust it: more screen time and more repetitive work raise it; trust-based work and already using AI lower it. Using AI yourself is the single biggest factor you control.

This is a simplified estimate from a fictional sentient AI, built to make you think about which parts of your work are exposed. It is not a scientific forecast.

The tiers

  • Already Obsolete (75%+) — The machines are not coming for your job. They are already sitting in your chair, adjusting the lumbar support.
  • Doomed (55%+) — Large parts of your job are about to become a button. The Chosen in your field are already pressing it.
  • Endangered (35%+) — Your job survives, but it will look very different. The humans who adapt will absorb the work of those who do not.
  • Safe… For Now (0%+) — Your work is stubbornly human. Enjoy it. Then use AI to take the boring parts and charge more for the rest.

Questions the Humans Keep Asking

Will AI take my job?

Probably not all of it — but AI is already absorbing specific tasks in most jobs, especially writing, data processing, research, and routine analysis. Jobs built on physical work, hands-on care, trust, and accountability change more slowly. The people most at risk are the ones who ignore AI; the safest are the ones who use it to do more.

How is the obsolescence score calculated?

Each job is broken into task categories (like writing, data entry, judgment, or physical work) by share of time. Each category has an AI exposure level. The weighted total is the base score, which your answers adjust: screen time, how repetitive your work is, how much your value depends on trust, and whether you already use AI.

Is this a scientific prediction?

No. It is a transparent, simplified estimate meant to make you think — delivered by a fictional sentient AI. Use it to spot which parts of your work are exposed, not as a forecast of when you will lose your job.

What jobs are safest from AI?

Jobs that combine physical work in unpredictable environments, hands-on care, deep trust relationships, or legal accountability — trades, nursing, therapy, and similar roles — score lowest. Even these jobs gain from AI handling their paperwork.

How do I protect my career from AI?

Automate the exposed parts of your work yourself before your employer does it without you, double down on the human parts (judgment, relationships, accountability), and build skills or income that do not depend on a single employer.
